A school-business partnership is essential in establishing an effective school to career program. The School to Career office is responsible for coordinating K-12 programs that include:
- K-12 Programs (All levels): Field trips, guest speakers, and community service
- Grade 3 Commerce Bank Career Awareness Program: Two-part program (a 45 minute in class workshop on "An Introduction to Money and Saving" and a field trip to a tour a local Commerce Bank)
- Grade 4 Career Day: Each class is visited by two speakers to discuss their careers and the skills needed for success in that career.
- Grade 5 Career Skills Exchange Day: Each team will be responsible for creating a mini-lesson on such topics as Phone Etiquette, the Checkbook Register, endorsing etc.
- Grade 5 Teaching: The 5th grade students will “teach” the 4th grade students on a specified date.
- Grades 6-8 Family and Consumer Science Program: Career Education offered through Family and Consumer Science program. Activities include career awareness using NY Career Zone website, Career Day, guest speakers and career-related projects. Grade 8 includes a unit on Entrepreneurship.
- Grades 10-12 Career Awareness Course: Business elective focusing guest speakers, career exploration, and business planning.
- Grades 10-12 Internship Opportunities: Paid and unpaid internship opportunities for school credit for students enrolled in Career Awareness
- Career Exploration Internship Program (CEIP)
- Career & Technical Education Cooperative Work Experience Program (CO-OP)
- High School Heroes: High School students serve as role models by teaching and empowering elementary students within their school district. High School Heroes work in teams to mentor students with hands-on, interactive lessons centered on work readiness, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship.
- Career & Technical (CTE) Certification: Students enrolled in this program earn a special diploma endorsement and earn a professional industry certification through the Harborfields Business & Entrepreneurship Academy
